Paddle at a relaxed pace through the Lac Bay mangrove forest with a certified guide — the short, immersive introduction to Bonaire's most vital ecosystem.
About this tour
Immerse yourself in the tranquility of Bonaire's mangroves on this 1-hour kayak adventure through the calm inner waters of Lac Bay. Led by a certified guide, you paddle at a relaxed pace through the mangrove forest and learn about the crucial role these habitats play in supporting marine life — a nursery for the reef fish you see while snorkeling elsewhere on the island.
Along the way, your guide shares insights into the delicate balance of this ecosystem and points out its many wonders: juvenile fish, upside-down jellyfish, birds and the tangle of roots that holds it all together. Perfect for those who want a short yet immersive nature experience. Allow about 1.5 hours including briefing.
Dry bags are provided. Apply sunscreen and insect repellent beforehand, wear lightweight sun-protective clothing and bring your own water — the water at the Mangrove Center is not drinkable. Bring your STINAPA nature fee receipt; the center is off-grid and cannot take card payments on site.
